The Best and the Worst of 2013!

We announced the winners of our annual AWARE Awards and the ALAMAK Award on 16 September. The AWARE Award winners show us how gender equality can be advanced, while the ALAMAK! awardee reminds us of what remains to be done. Find out who won!

Harmful constructions of women in sex education

AWARE's last roundtable discussed the way young women are depicted in abstinence-only sex education today. Click here to learn how young women are portrayed in these sex education curricula, and how this hurts youth today.

Experiences of ageing among women in Singapore

For this year's International Day of Older Persons, AWARE held a focus group discussion at the Society for WINGS to understand women's ageing experiences. Read about the issues they face, and the need for a support system.

The Big Red Success!

AWARE raised more than $250,000 at our annual fundraiser, the Big Red Ball, on 16 September, beating our own record from last year. The funds will help sustain our research and advocacy programmes, support services, and the We Can! End All Violence Against Women campaign.

Gender Matters - History of Feminism

What exactly is feminism? AWARE has put together a 3-part workshop series that explores the history of the feminist movement, how gender roles are shaped over time, and what feminism means today. Click here to register.

Roundtable: Internet and the women's movement

Our next roundtable is on 23 October, on how internet technologies have affected the women's movement in Singapore. Click here to join the discussion on how the Internet has opened up spaces of contestation for women.

Become a Change Maker today!

Join the We Can End All Violence Against Women campaign. Individuals pledging to take action in their own lives are at the heart of this campaign. Become a Change Maker - attend a workshop (our next one is tonight!), and take the Change Maker pledge.
